Hi! I’m Ryan Gatchell. I’ve been associated with the violin nearly all of my life.

I began playing from the age of five and continued studying performance at Tulane University. During my teenage years I began working with a violin maker during my summers and completed an apprenticeship in Cambridge, England in 1995.

At New Orleans Violins we focus on collecting excellent specimens from around the world, especially Eastern Europe. Our goal is to correctly pair a violin and a bow to its new owner.
